Project Name: Shivajinagar
Project Description (Not more than 100 words): The shivajinagar project pivots on thirty bag manufacturing units located in shivajinagar, Bangalore. The project aims to congregate all 30 units to join and form an association to eliminate price war among them. It also seeks to eliminate the advantages taken by the wholesaler from the price war among the units, by bringing uniformity in the bags manufactured by them. The project seeks to find more market places for the unit who solely depend on the wholesalers to market their products.
Target Audience (Not more than 50 words): The project focuses on thirty units each unit consists of 15 workers. Every worker on an average has a family of three members. The project highlights the existence of child labor in these units; every unit employs 3-4 child laborers. The project deals with the direction of advantages enjoyed by the wholesalers to the units. It also targets to eliminate price war among the units.
Learnings for the SIFE team members (Not more than 100 words): we are inculcating formal Communication skills with in the team and interaction skills with the units. Adopting better techniques of financial management, enhancing the spirit of unity and team work, we are developing our decision making skills. The team gets to learn how to conduct market research and draft survey reports, we are observing how the 4 P’s of marketing i.e. product, price, place and promotion mix work in a cycle for a manufacturing unit, We got acknowledgment for the 5M’s of management namely men, machinery, materials, money and management and their application in different conditions. In addition to aforesaid, we are learning the practical implementation of the functions of management namely, Planning, Organizing, Directing, Staffing, Controlling and Coordinating, Reporting and Budgeting.
